# How does priceq find my product at a shop?

> priceq searches each shop for your EAN, part number and name, opens the page it finds, and links it only when the product codes agree.

priceq looks for every product in your catalogue at every shop you follow. It searches the shop for your product codes, opens the page it finds and reads the codes on it. A page is linked only when those codes agree with yours. A similar name is never enough on its own.

## When it runs

Matching runs every night at 03:00 UTC, for each product and shop that still needs a link. Shops you switched off are skipped at night. You can also start a run yourself: see [Start matching now](/help/en/checking-matches/start-matching-now).

## How it searches

Only pages on the shop's own website count. The search goes in this order:

1. Your EAN.
2. Your part number (MPN), with and without dashes.
3. Your product name together with the brand.

A few shops are searched by part number first. Results from other websites are ignored. When none of this finds a product page, priceq tries the shop's own search box with your EAN.

## How it checks the page

Next, priceq opens the page and reads the product codes the shop publishes there. The page is linked when:

- its EAN is the same as yours, or
- its part number is exactly yours and the brand matches.

Some shops print the part number only in the page text. priceq accepts that too, but then the page title must also resemble your product name. That keeps out an accessory page that mentions your part number as "compatible with".

A page found by name alone is linked only when the shop's product data carries your EAN.

## What is never linked

- A listing whose title or web address marks it as B-stock, refurbished, used or open box. It is a different offer, and cheaper by nature.
- A page whose EAN differs from yours, unless its part number is exactly yours and its title resembles your product name.

When the codes on a page contradict each other, priceq does not guess. The product goes to your review queue, where you decide. See [The review queue](/help/en/checking-matches/the-review-queue).

## After a match

The link appears in **Sources** on the **Mappings** tab with the state **matched**. In the product's **Links** tab it reads **matched on EAN** or **matched on MPN + brand**. The first price is read from the same page. If a product stays without a link, [Why is my product still unmatched?](/help/en/checking-matches/why-is-my-product-unmatched) lists the reasons.
