# How do I reset my password or get unlocked?

> Use Forgot password? on the sign-in page. The link works for one hour. After five wrong passwords in 15 minutes, only the right one gets through.

Start on the sign-in page. Choose **Forgot password?** and enter your e-mail address. priceq sends you a link to set a new password. The link works for one hour and only once.

## Reset a forgotten password

1. Go to the sign-in page. Choose **Forgot password?**
2. Enter your **Email address** and choose **Send reset link**.
3. Open the mail and follow the link.
4. Type a **New password** of at least 8 characters and choose **Save password**.

You see **Password changed. Redirecting…** and land on the sign-in page. Sign in with the new password.

The page always says **If this email is known, you'll receive a reset link.** It says that even for an address priceq does not know, so nobody can use the form to find out who has an account.

priceq checks the new password against known data breaches. If it appears there, you see **This password appears in known data breaches. Choose another one.**

## The link does not work

You see **This link is invalid or has expired.** The link has either passed its hour or been used already. Request a new one. You can ask for a reset link three times per hour. After that, wait before you try again.

If no mail arrives, check your spam folder first. A deactivated account gets no reset mail: ask an Admin or Supervisor to reactivate you. See [Remove, reactivate or leave](/help/en/team-and-account/remove-reactivate-or-leave).

## Change your password while signed in

Open **My account** in the sidebar and choose **Signing in**. Choose **Change password**. You see **Link sent.** and the same reset mail arrives in your inbox. You do not need to sign out first.

## Too many wrong passwords

After five wrong passwords within 15 minutes, priceq refuses further wrong attempts for that account. This is not a hard lock. Your correct password still works at any moment, and a successful sign-in clears the count. Older failed attempts stop counting once they are 15 minutes old.

Stop guessing if you are not sure of it. Use **Forgot password?** instead.

## Stay signed in

Tick **Stay signed in (30 days)** when you sign in on your own computer. Leave it off on a shared one.
