# Why are out-of-stock prices hidden?

> A price nobody can buy is not a price you compete with. The Overview leaves out sold-out shops unless you ask for them with a chip.

priceq hides out-of-stock prices by default because a shopper cannot buy at that price today. A shop with an empty shelf should not count as your cheapest competitor.

## What the default does

In the Overview matrix, with no chips switched on:

- Products where no shop has stock are left out of the list.
- In **Simple** view, shops without stock drop out of the bar, the gap and your place. Your own shop always stays, so you can still see where you stand.
- In **Detailed** view, tiles of shops without stock are not shown.

A shop counts as available when its stock reads **in stock** or **low stock**. On the Overview, a shop page that gives no readable stock signal counts as out of stock.

## Seeing them anyway

Two chips in the toolbar change this:

- **include out of stock** shows every price again. Sold-out tiles then show **out of stock** with the price struck through, and pre-order tiles show **pre-order**.
- **pre-order only** shows only products that at least one shop lists for pre-order. This chip wins when both are on.

The legend under Detailed view explains the dots: a coloured dot is **in stock**, a grey dot is **backorder / sold out**.

## Stock in other places

- On a product page, your place counts only shops that can ship today. When a cheaper shop cannot deliver, the page says so on its own line. The **Competitors** table still lists every shop, sold out or not.
- The Trends page only uses competitor prices from shops with stock. Your own price always counts.
- The standing line in Detailed view says **cheapest in stock** when you are the cheapest shop that can deliver.

## If a stock status looks wrong

priceq reads the stock text on the shop's page. If a shop shows stock in words priceq does not recognise, the product can look sold out. Tell us at **priceq-support@outflanq.com** with the product and the shop, see [Contact support](/help/en/team-and-account/contact-support).
