Magento 2

Competitor price monitoring for Magento 2

priceq connects to your Magento 2 shop through a standard admin integration, reads your simple products, checks them against other retailers every day, and proposes prices you approve before they are written back, or let a rule push inside your guardrails. It works with Magento Open Source, Adobe Commerce on your own servers and Adobe Commerce Cloud. Nothing in your shop changes behind your back.

The trial has every feature, on 100 products and 3 competitor shops. Then you connect your shop, in about two minutes. Servers in Germany.

Set-up in three steps

  1. 1

In the Magento admin, go to System, Integrations, and add an integration for priceq with access to the catalogue. Magento gives you four values: a consumer key and secret, an access token and its secret.

  2. 2

Paste those four values and your shop’s address into priceq. priceq checks that the integration can read products and categories and tells you at once if the access is too narrow.

  3. 3

Choose which products to watch and name the shops you compete with. The first check runs the next morning.

What it reads from Magento

Simple products: the lines that carry a price and a barcode. Per product priceq reads the SKU, the price, the special price with its start and end dates, the manufacturer part number and the cost, from the standard cost attribute or the one you point it at. It does not read stock levels, customers or orders. Bundles, grouped and configurable parents are not watched as such; their simple children are.

How your products are matched

Through the EAN. Magento has no fixed place for it, so priceq reads the attribute you name, or looks in the usual ones: ean, barcode, gtin, ean13 and upc. A competitor listing is tied to your product on that number and then verified. Where there is no EAN, priceq can fall back on the manufacturer part number together with the brand. What is left goes to a review queue, where you confirm or reject the match yourself. Nothing is linked on a title alone.

What it watches

Every product you selected, against the shops you named. Prices are tracked over time rather than sampled, so a competitor who drops on Friday and recovers on Monday still shows up. Every plan checks once a day; Business and Professional check twice. Changes in your own catalogue are picked up in a daily poll. Magento has no webhooks, so a product you edit at noon is seen by priceq the next morning.

Alerts reach you by email and in the app, each with its own threshold: a competitor who is cheaper, a competitor who has been more expensive for a week, a sudden move, a new shop selling your product, a shop that dropped it, a product out of stock at several shops, and your own price undercut or inconsistent. You decide how far a price has to move before it counts.

What it proposes

On the Business plan and up, priceq proposes a price for every product that needs one. A proposal always shows the rule that produced it and the numbers behind it: your minimum price, your cost plus margin, the competitor it followed. Rules scope from the whole shop down to one product. A proposal never goes below the floor you set, and never moves a price more than a set percentage in one day.

What it writes back

The base price, through Magento’s own base-prices endpoint on the default store, and only after it is approved, by a person or by a rule you switched on. priceq deliberately does not use the general product-update call, so it can never touch anything but the price. After each write it reads the price back from Magento rather than trusting the confirmation, and logs it. Special prices, stock, product texts and attributes are never written.

What it costs

Start is €99 a month for 200 products and three competitor shops, checked once a day. Business is €299 for 1,000 products, two checks a day and price proposals you can push to the shop. Professional is €699 for 5,000 products, two checks a day and as many competitor shops as you like. Above that, priceq is priced to the catalogue. Prices exclude VAT, and every plan starts with a free trial on your own catalogue.

Where it runs

On Outflanq’s own servers at Hetzner in Nürnberg, Germany. Your catalogue lives in its own row-level-secured space, is never shown to another customer, and is backed up every day, encrypted. Delete the integration in Magento and the connection ends at that moment.

Questions

Do I need to install an extension?

No. priceq uses the REST API and the integration tokens that Magento 2 provides out of the box. Nothing is added to your installation.

Does priceq change my prices by itself?

Only if you tell a rule to. Every price change is a proposal until it is approved. Automatic pushing is off by default; from Business you switch it on per rule, and that rule's proposals then go to your shop inside your guardrails.

Which Magento versions work?

Magento 2 Open Source and Adobe Commerce, on your own servers or on Adobe Commerce Cloud. priceq detects which one it is talking to. Magento 1 is not supported.

What about configurable products?

The simple children are watched, each with its own EAN and price. The configurable parent has no price of its own and is not a line.

Does it work with several store views?

priceq writes the base price on the default store. Store-view prices are left as they are.

Can I remove it again?

Yes. Delete the integration under System, Integrations, and the connection ends. Your data in priceq is deleted on request.

priceq also connects to Shopify and WooCommerce, or any other platform through a CSV or Excel file or the API. Every plan starts with a free trial on your own catalogue.
