Competitor price monitoring for Shopify

priceq connects to your Shopify shop, checks your whole catalogue against other retailers every day, and shows which products moved, in which direction, and since when. A proposed price goes back to Shopify after you approve it, or when a rule you switched on pushes it inside your guardrails. Nothing in your shop changes behind your back.

The trial has every feature, on 100 products and 3 competitor shops. Then you connect your shop, in about two minutes. Servers in Germany.

Set-up in three steps

  1. 1

Enter your shop address, your-shop.myshopify.com. Shopify shows you the three permissions priceq asks for: read products, read inventory, write products. Approve them. There are no keys to copy and no theme code to paste.

  2. 2

Choose which products to watch. priceq shows your active products with a counter against your plan’s limit; you tick what matters. The connected shop stays the source of truth for names and prices.

  3. 3

Name the shops you compete with. The first check runs the next morning. From then on you see every product, your price, their prices, and the alerts that follow.

What it reads from Shopify

Your catalogue at variant level, not product level, so a size or a colour that carries its own price is watched as its own line. Per variant priceq reads the SKU, the barcode, the price, the compare-at price and the unit cost from the inventory item. It also reads the product title, status, vendor and category, so you can filter by them. It does not read your stock levels, your customers or your orders.

How your products are matched

Through the barcode field on the variant, which is where Shopify keeps the EAN. A competitor listing is tied to your variant on that number and then verified. Where the barcode is empty or the number does not resolve, the variant goes to a review queue, where you confirm or reject the match yourself. priceq never links two products on a title alone, and a price is only ever pushed for a match that scored at least 90 out of 100.

What it watches

Every variant you selected, against the shops you named. Prices are tracked over time rather than sampled, so a competitor who drops on Friday and recovers on Monday still shows up. Every plan checks once a day; Business and Professional check twice.

Alerts reach you by email and in the app, each with its own threshold: a competitor who is cheaper, a competitor who has been more expensive for a week, a sudden move, a new shop selling your product, a shop that dropped it, a product out of stock at several shops, and your own price undercut or inconsistent. You set how far a price has to move before it counts.

What it proposes

On the Business plan and up, priceq proposes a price for every product that needs one. A proposal always shows the rule that produced it and the numbers behind it: your minimum price, your cost plus margin, the competitor it followed. Rules scope from the whole shop down to a single product, so a category that carries your margin can behave differently from one that carries traffic. A proposal never goes below the floor you set, and never moves a price more than a set percentage in one day.

What it writes back

The variant price, and only after it is approved, by a person or by a rule you switched on. The compare-at price is read but never written. A market that takes a percentage of the base price follows it, as it does in Shopify itself; a market with a fixed price of its own and B2B price lists are never written. After each write priceq reads the price back from Shopify rather than trusting the confirmation, and logs it, so what the dashboard shows is what your shop actually charges. Stock, product texts and sale schedules are never touched.

What it costs

Start is €99 a month for 200 products and three competitor shops, checked once a day. Business is €299 for 1,000 products, two checks a day and price proposals you can push to the shop. Professional is €699 for 5,000 products, two checks a day and as many competitor shops as you like. Above that, priceq is priced to the catalogue. Prices exclude VAT, and every plan starts with a free trial on your own catalogue.

Where it runs

On Outflanq’s own servers at Hetzner in Nürnberg, Germany. Your catalogue lives in its own row-level-secured space, is never shown to another customer, and is backed up every day, encrypted. Revoking the app in Shopify ends the connection; priceq handles Shopify’s data-deletion requests as the platform requires.

Questions

Does priceq change my prices by itself?

Only if you tell a rule to. Every price change is a proposal until it is approved. Automatic pushing is off by default; from Business you switch it on per rule, and that rule's proposals then go to your shop inside your guardrails.

Does it work with variants?

Yes. Each variant is its own line, with its own barcode, price and competitors. A product with six sizes is six lines.

What if a product has no barcode?

It goes to the review queue. You can add the EAN in Shopify, after which it matches on the next check, or confirm a suggested match yourself. It is never guessed from the title.

Does priceq read my stock?

No. The permission to read inventory is used for the unit cost on the inventory item. Stock quantities are not read and never written.

Does it work with Shopify Markets or B2B price lists?

It reads and writes the variant’s base price. A market priced as a percentage of the base price follows it, as it does in Shopify itself; a market with a fixed price of its own and B2B price lists are left as they are.

Can I remove it again?

Yes. Uninstall the app in Shopify and the connection ends at that moment. Your data in priceq is deleted on request.

priceq also connects to WooCommerce and Magento 2, or any other platform through a CSV or Excel file or the API. Every plan starts with a free trial on your own catalogue.
