How do I import my products from a CSV or Excel file?
Updated
Products and sources, 8 articles
On the Catalog page, choose Import and pick a .csv or .xlsx file. Add product opens the same file picker, and on an empty catalogue you can also drop the file on the page. priceq recognises your columns and shows a preview. Check it, then confirm with the button that shows the row count, for example Import 250 rows.
What your file needs
Four columns are required: your article code (SKU), the EAN, the product name and a category. priceq can also pick up brand, manufacturer part number (MPN), list price (MSRP), cost price, minimum price and maximum price.
- The EAN must have 8, 12, 13 or 14 digits and a correct check digit.
- Old Excel files (.xls) do not work. Save them as .xlsx first.
- A CSV may use commas, semicolons or tabs. Title rows above your column names and group rows between products are fine.
On an empty catalogue you can download a Sample file that shows the expected columns.
The preview
After Reading your file, you see CSV preview with the number of rows found. Under Column mapping, every column of your file has a dropdown with the field it goes into. Change any that are wrong, or set a column to skip. Each field can be used once. If a required field has no column, you see Required fields missing and cannot import yet.
Sample after normalisation shows the first rows as priceq will store them.
Duplicates and errors
The preview warns you before anything is saved:
- rows without a valid EAN are skipped
- when several rows share an article code, only the last one is kept
- rows that share an EAN are listed, so you can check them
Choose E-mail me the list to get every problem row by mail. Nothing is imported by that, so you can fix your file first.
Confirm within 30 minutes. After that, upload the file again.
After the import
You see how many products were created, updated and failed. Show skipped rows gives the row number and the reason, such as no valid EAN or no category.
Importing again with the same file is safe. priceq matches rows on the article code: existing products are updated, new codes are added.
Only new article codes count toward your plan limit. If they do not fit, priceq imports nothing from the file. See Plans and limits.
Next, priceq looks for your products at the retailers you follow. See How priceq finds your product.
Import is greyed out
Your webshop is connected, and it is the source of your products. See Why Import and Add are greyed out.
