Why does my price data look stale?

Understanding prices, 10 articles
A price counts as stale when priceq last read it more than 72 hours ago. The price is not wrong. It is the last one priceq saw on that shop page, and it has not been confirmed since.
What it looks like
- In Detailed view on the Overview matrix, a stale tile is faded and has a dashed border. It still takes part in the comparison.
- In Simple view, click a row's bar. The last seen column shows when each shop was read, for example "today 06:12" or a date.
- On a product page, last seen shows the date and time of the latest reading.
The fresh figure on the Dashboard
At the top right of the Dashboard you see a percentage followed by fresh (<24h). It is the share of your linked products' latest prices that priceq read in the last 24 hours. This is a stricter test than the 72 hours above: a price can be missing from the fresh share and still not look stale on the Overview.
Why a price stops updating
priceq checks all prices once a day, and a second time on Business and Professional. See When are prices checked?. A price falls behind when a check does not reach it. Two causes you can see yourself:
- The shop was briefly unreachable. Its source then shows that on the Sources page, and priceq retries on its own. See What do the source status messages mean?.
- Automatic collection is switched off. Settings, Collecting, then says Automatic collection is switched off. Your prices are not being refreshed.
What you can do
Wait for the next check first. If the same shop stays stale for several days, open Sources and look at its status. When nothing there explains it, write to [email protected] with the shop and a product.
